Façade – “A superficial outward appearance, that is maintained to conceal a less pleasant reality” The notion: to showcase the glitz and glamour, synonymous with the Fashion Industry, whilst staying true to the Dolls of Decadence brand. All to be presented through a largely glitzy palette of sequinned fabrics, rich winter hues, Dolls of Decadence signature hand embellished jewels and voluminous shapes. The idea of the Fashion Industry is largely perceived as easy, glamorous career choice; often looked on with great interest, usually as a result of beautiful imagery or dramatic runway shows- all the end product of a very different reality. In a bid to separate this ideology of Fashion and demonstrate the inner working of the industry. We have chosen to showcase the full working process of the making of the collection, and have documented this journey throughout the production stage, as well as highlighting the other darker issues rarely advertised by the Fashion Industry; including: racism and sexual exploitation, through own research and personal experiences. All which will be documented in a series of blogs to coincide with the release of the collection.
